When I watched the film in India, I found a few things out of place – some of which I will mention here. It was a bit surprising that the movie has a song for every time it opened in the theater in India. I have not heard such a thing anywhere else. Some of them are really good, though. Another thing that surprised me was the fact that the film had the most of the songs in the Hindi language. And they were all by the same musician – A. R. Rahman. There were a few other songs, but not many. The first song I heard was ‘Sautanai Thaalpa’ – which had a beautiful background and was suitable for the movie, but I didn’t like the way the video was filmed. I felt that the camerawork was as important as the lyrics of the song. So, the song was not as exciting for me, but I think most others will like it.
I am also a bit curious about how some of the audience reacted while watching the movie. A lot of them didn’t seem to be bothered by the words of the song. They were just there to see what the movie would show them. After all, they don’t have to see the movie to know how it ends!
I have always liked crime films, and this movie has enough of both. So, I was happy that I had purchased the DVD of the movie in the UK. Even if you don’t like Bollywood movies, I think you should watch this – it is worth watching. The other day I watched the movie for the first time on a big screen, and I was very happy that I had seen it in a big theater. Of course, I missed a lot of the dialogues, but it did feel like it was an event! I also heard a lot of the songs, which added to the experience.
On the whole though, the movie is the romantic comedy that we have all been waiting for. It has everything that we want – comedy, romance, action, songs, and even to show the villains as good guys at the end!
The movie has been remade many times, but none can come close to its success, maybe for the simple fact that its success cannot be attributed to one individual. It is a heartwarming and moving movie, the kind that works in any medium, from any story, from any country, from any genre. It is a perfect feel good movie for the whole family to enjoy, and it has been enjoyed by a lot of families for a long time now, and will continue to be enjoyed for a long time to come.
