I Love New York received its highest television rating of 3.99 on 19 November 2006, and the lowest of 3.11 on 1 December 2006. It received its highest audio rating of 3.61 on 23 November 2006 and the lowest of 3.28 on 1 December 2006. On its last episode on 28 November 2006, the show achieved its highest television rating of 3.98.[citation needed]
The show has aired regularly since then, however, the weekend edition had been cut back to one episode at the beginning of 2008, and then the show was axed on 8 March 2008, with the final episode airing on 22 April. However, the show was brought back in late 2009 for its first anniversary specials. The final episode was on 24 April 2010. The show was axed again on 22 December 2015, and brought back on 28 February 2016. The last episode aired on 21 March 2016. In January 2017, the show returned to TV2 and began airing at the usual Saturday 5pm time slot. However, it was axed on the 19th March 2017.[citation needed]
In late 2006, an attempt was made to shift the show back onto television, with a more credible and established name. The first episode of I Love New York was broadcast on 11 November 2006, featuring the American and UK series' presenters Tiffany Pollard and Tim Westwood. Although I Love New York has been on air for only five months, it has already been ranked as the nation's highest-rating show by TVNZ. The show had an average television rating of 3.28 on 12 November 2006, and with the addition of the weekend edition, this increased to 3.34, with an average of 3.34 on 15 November 2006.
In 2007, a localized version of the BBC show, called the Top of the Pops New Zealand debuted on Prime (TV2's sister channel). It featured a co-presenter, the same casting method of the previous year, and in a similar vein to the BBC version, contained performances from the chart dominators, who have not had their music played on the BBC Top 40 since April 2007. New Zealand artists have had a presence on the show since its inception, with performances from New Zealand solo artists, bands and groups being played on-air; most recently, New Zealand artist and former Take That member Robbie Williams appeared on the show in 2008, and again in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Other performers include 'The Presets (band), The Datsuns, The Vibrators, The Scientists, The P, The Rockmelons, Dubstar, Fat Freddy's Drop and Tall Dwarfs.
Other localized versions of the BBC show have been broadcast in Australia, Canada and Iceland, and a local version of the show is broadcast on the Nine Network in Australia, and on the ABC in Australia and New Zealand. In Canada, a local version is broadcast on CTV. In New Zealand, a local version is broadcast on TV2.
There are no official details as to when TV2 will start broadcasting the show again. The New Zealand version currently airs on Saturdays at 5pm.
